Shengtian Yang received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in biomedical engineering, and the Ph.D. degree in information and communication engineering from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China in 1999, 2002, and 2005, respectively.
From June 2005 to December 2007, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University. From December 2007 to January 2010, he was an Associate Professor with the Department of Information Science and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang University. From February 2010 to February 2015, he was an Independent Researcher in Hangzhou. From March 2015 to December 2017, he was an Associate Professor with the School of Information and Electronic Engineering, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou, where he is currently a Professor. He has held visiting positions with McMaster University, Hamilton, ON, Canada.
He is a senior member of the IEEE. He was a recipient of the CHINACOM Best Paper Award in 2008 and the ICC Best Paper Award in 2020. He served as a reviewer for international journals and conferences including IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, IEEE Transactions on Communications, Entropy, IEEE Communications Letters, IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, IEEE Information Theory Workshop, Data Compression Conference, and so on. He also served as a reviewer for Mathematical Reviews of AMS.
His research interests include information theory, coding theory, and programming languages.
